Dollar, Burns, Becker & Hershewe recently announced the hiring of attorney Lauren Dollar. She will be a part of the firm’s sexual abuse, child injury and wrongful death, and catastrophic injury practice groups.
“We are thrilled to add such a gifted attorney and seasoned litigator to our sexual abuse and child injury and wrongful death practice groups,” said Jill Kanatzar, attorney and practice group leader at Dollar, Burns, Becker & Hershewe. “Her experience working for the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and the U.S. District Court is invaluable, especially when you consider the work she will be doing at our firm. She will ensure abusers are no longer able to harm the innocent by being the voice for victims.”
Dollar has handled all aspects of litigation including jury and bench trials, sentencing hearings, oral arguments, legal research, and drafting opinions, motions, and legal briefs. Two of Lauren’s cases in particular – a domestic assault trial with an 11-year-old witness and a child molestation sentencing – inspired her to continue the fight for victim’s rights in the civil sector.
Dollar previously worked as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Stephen R. Bough, U.S. District Court.
Dollar earned her Juris Doctor, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and her Bachelor of Arts in Microbiology from the University of Kansas.
Her new hire announcement was recently featured in the Kansas City Business Journal’s People on the Move section.
