Dollar & Becker Named Power 30

Tim Dollar and Tim Becker were named to Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s inaugural Power 30 Personal Injury Law list. The Power 30 list is part of the publication’s new regular feature, The Power List, which highlights attorneys and brokers who lead and influence various parts of the Missouri legal community.

For the Personal Injury Law list, Missouri Lawyers Weekly “focused on those whose were presence on a case signifies the stakes, whose career winnings total in the hundreds of million or billions of dollars, whose leadership in the community is pervasive and whose recognition within the bar is undeniable.”

Whether it’s a high-value civil case or a high-profile criminal prosecution, there’s a good chance Tim Dollar is involved.

Sample cases include a $39 million verdict in 2017 for a deadly chain-reaction crash on an icy road in the Texas Panhandle and a $37.5 million jury verdict in 2016 for a man paralyzed in a crash on a Kansas City interstate — which, following a favorable appellate ruling, resulted in a $30.5 million settlement of a related insurance case.

Tim Becker likes to say that, in nearly every instance, “truck crashes are not accidents.” Proving that assertion has led him to courtrooms and settle- ment tables in 38 states.

Among his cases are a $37.5 million jury verdict in Jackson County that he and his firm colleagues achieved for a man paralyzed in a crash on a Kansas City interstate. When the plaintiff braked to avoid a rear-end collision with a stalled vehicle, the plaintiff was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer truck. It was the seventh-largest plaintiffs’ win of 2016, as tracked by Missouri Lawyers Media.
