Susan Slattery was a victim of an industry that puts precedent on speed over safety and creates danger for everyone on the road. Due to an exemption within a law that hasn’t been changed in over 75 years, U.S. truck drivers typically don’t get paid overtime. Instead, they earn their wages by the mile – creating a culture that promotes unsafe and fatigued driving.
The accident that took her life and irreversibly injured her sons is unfortunately one of the thousands that happen every year. Dollar, Burns & Becker proudly represented Susan’s family in a landmark settlement against the defendant driver and the trucking company.
