Susan Slattery was a victim of an industry that puts precedent on speed over safety and creates danger for everyone on the road. Due to an exemption within a law that hasn’t been changed in over 75 years, U.S. truck drivers typically don’t get paid overtime. Instead, they earn their wages by the mile – creating a culture that promotes unsafe and fatigued driving.
The accident that took her life and irreversibly injured her sons is unfortunately one of the thousands that happen every year. Dollar, Burns, Becker & Hershewe proudly represented Susan’s family in a landmark settlement against the defendant driver and the trucking company.
