Rachel talks Elder Abuse on KMBC

Attorney Rachel Stahle was recently on KMBC discussing how neglect and abuse in nursing homes during COVID 19 is going unreported. In fact, the number of calls to the Missouri Elder Abuse Hot Line have fallen by 6 percent.

This is not surprising seeing as many family members have not been able to see their loved ones due to COVID 19 restrictions and lockdowns. Rachel and our Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect team highly encourage anyone with loved ones in long-term care facilities to check in as often as they can. While many homes are still closed to outside visitors, frequent phone and video calls will help people keep updated with how their parent, friend or family member is doing.

If it has been awhile since you were able to visit your loved one in person, be prepared they might look and act different. Some of this is aging or the impact of a condition they might have. However, it is important to be on the lookout for any abuse and neglect. Here are a list of signs that abuse and neglect might be occurring.
