Spring Break Marks Anniversary of Bresette Death

March 15, 2016

The arrival of spring break is a welcome celebration for many, but for the Bresette family it brings back painful memories. Ryan and Heather Bresette appeared on KCTV5 to discuss the upcoming anniversary of the death of their 10-year-old son.

In 2013 the Bresettes spent a beautiful week in Destin, Florida with their five children. During their journey home a display sign in Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport toppled over, injuring several members of the Bresette family and killing their 10-year-old son, Luke.

“It’s day-by-day,” Ryan said. “Even though three years is coming up, it’s hard to get out of bed each day knowing there’s one kid who’s not going to be there.”

Shortly after Luke’s death, the Bresette family started the Live Like Luke Foundation. It will give kids a way to participate in activities and experience the joy and energy that Luke lived with each day.

After their tragic accident, the Bresette family hired Tim Dollar to help assign responsibility for the loss of their son. On September 4, 2015 the Bresettes reached a settlement agreement with those involved.
