62-year-old Dorris Edwards lost her life when her Jeep Cherokee was rear-ended by a driver-trainee employed by Werner Enterprises, Inc. The accident occurred at night. Mrs. Edwards was stopped in traffic, due to an accident five miles up ahead. The Werner driver failed to slow down or brake, crashing into Mrs. Edwards’ Jeep at a high speed. The impact caused a chain reaction collision involving three other vehicles. Steve Edwards sued Werner Enterprises and its driver. This case was tried in the Circuit Court of Cole County, Missouri.
