A family has settled a survival action against an out of state organization that operated a group home for mentally disabled people. The lawsuit sought damages for the pain and suffering their disabled sister incurred while living at the group home. Their sister had trouble navigating stairs, leading to her falling numerous times in a four month period. The organization failed to transfer her to a facility that was stair-free or provide an appropriate level of attention and care. Their sister ultimately died of a severely lacerated liver, allegedly from a fall.
