Earlier this year, the nation was captivated by a video that showed a 47-car pile up during a snow storm near Oak Grove, Missouri. Sadly, in this crash one person, Linda Henderson, passed away and her husband, James, sustained catastrophic injuries.
James has spent a month in the ICU fighting to survive. To advance his care, doctors recommended he go to an acute-long term care ICU, where he could get the rehabilitation services he needed to progress. However, his insurance, Coventry by Aetna, denied coverage for this next critical step.
Tim Dollar along with the family could not stand for this injustice. We worked closely with Matt Flener at KMBC to tell this family’s story. Our hope was this segment would help convince the insurance company to provide the life saving coverage James needed.
This family’s story spread quickly throughout Kansas City. The family received hundreds of messages of support.
