Schuetz vs McGee Hauling

Bernard and Sharon Schuetz were seriously injured on June 25, 2012 when a trailer separated from an on-coming truck, crossed the center line, and crashed into their Ford Taurus.

Mr. Schuetz, then 76, was riding in the passenger seat, the area that bore the majority of the impact from the oncoming trailer, and his injuries were much more catastrophic than his wife’s. He sustained injuries to his head and neck, including fractures of his face, skull and vertebrae C2, a closed-head injury, subarachnoid and subdural hemorrhaging, and respiratory failure requiring ventilation, as well as bruising and contusions over his entire body.  Mr. Schuetz’s orthopedic injuries resolved, but the brain injury is permanent and will require home health care assistance indefinitely.

Mrs. Schuetz, age 71, suffered a complex right ankle fracture and underwent surgery for an open reduction and internal fixation, and required comprehensive acute rehabilitation therapy.

Suit was filed in October of 2012, and settled in December of 2012 for policy limits of $2.0 million.
